Anonymous Hacked Israeli Websites

#1
Greetings everyone,

Anonymous are at It again, this time to take a stance as per the following:

Quote:A number of Israeli websites were hacked Tuesday to display pro-Palestinian messages in what experts said was the start of the annual cyberattack by the hacker collective known as “Anonymous.”

Homepages for the municipality websites for Kfar Saba, Eilat, Herzliya and Acre were changed to display the message: “Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine” alongside an image of the deadly clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces along the Gaza border over the weekend.

Websites for Israel’s national opera, a hospital in Hadera and the local council for the city of Gan Yavne were also defaced.

Due to the fact of Anonymous' anonymity, anyone can claim to be them.

You'll never know for sure whether It's Anonymous who's responsible for everything we read.

Well that's fun. Israel has always been fun to look at and wait for an attack. Didn't actually expect the classic "We are Legion" to attack them though.

That's kind of the point. Its less about "you'll never know for sure whether it's Anonymous." Moreso, the concept of anyone can not only claim to be them but anyone can BE them. So anything claimed under Anonymous can hypothetically be official.

The problem is, they havent accomplished anything over the years, aside from some financial losses and inconvienceing people. They get in the news and everyone moves on a few days later. Without organisation, they never will manage much else.

At this point, Anonymous is just a name. It doesn't exist, it's just random people doing random things. People will do whatever they want 'in the name of Anonymous', and it'll blow up in the news as 'Anonymous does X'. When anyone can be a part of it, and anyone can do anything under it's name, it stops having value.

Pretty much what I was referring to.

At one point (In It's very early stages), they did have selective members and probably still do to some capacity, but now anyone can claim notoriety under that (Anonymous) title.
