Precisely.
Alternatively In terms of file hosting (longevity of files), In my experience, Solidfiles and 4shared are equally effective.

The thing with GitHub and things like GitLab, is that they aren't just for hosting...
They are designed to host code, and have version management, the ability to make multiple branches, bug tracking, wiki support, and a lot more.
If you're hosting a programming project, git is the way to go.
Yep. Also works great for people making edits to your code. I really suggest you look into it, or visit my github page at least...

I know.
Hence "alternatively In terms of file hosting" In my above post. That Is, not relative to GitHub.

You just need to make the server and client, then run the server in the background (it doesn't ever require input just deals fresh decks)

I know it's not the greatest code, but I least strive to make it consistent and somewhat appeasing. If you guys have improvements, feel free to lmk or upload your own mods. GitHub would be neat.

Yeah I have a few githubs and I'm well versed in git-fu thanks to one of my awesome group partners from last semester.
I'll make one for here and post it there today.

Looking forward to it. I've always been intrigued by computer-played games. Way back I used genetic AI algorithms to determine my exact strategy for playing blackjack

Oh no, there's no ai. The server just deals cards after you place your bet. Not by any means a full poker game. More like blackjack in playing, with poker rules for bet winning/loss. Uploading to GitHub now, will update the thread very soon.

[To see links please register here] is also very nice for this, it's open source, and private repos are free, unlike in GitHub.
Just checked out GitLab, and it looks really gross compared to GitHub UI-wise. Private repos are pretty cool... but GitHub just looks nicer. Not to mention it's more well known. The most popular app on GitLab is FDroid lmao.
