[Covid-19]: What are your thoughts about people not caring

#31
I agree that there is a general lack of empathy and responsibility amongst western societies but on the other hand..

False positive test results are a real thing, CBS (US) and Channel 7 (Aus) we’re caught recycling footage from one of Italy’s worst hit hospitals as one of their own respectively.

Governmental negligence is how Australia’s Victorian state succumbed to a second wave, one of the longest globally. Returning travellers were quarantined in hotels that weren’t fit to accomodate such a volatile issue. Private security hired had insufficient PPE, were not properly trained and were spreading virus via ubers etc.

Some people don’t trust the governments advice anymore and for good reason.

Even if everyone wore a mask, I don’t think everyone wearing a mask would ever eliminate it, the media could never let such a pandemic ‘go to waste’.

If everyone had just obeyed guidelines and stayed inside 2 weeks, I'd imagine we'd have already moved on.

Western countries are illprepared and generally not compatible with the values required to en masse apply vague and ever changing guidelines to themselves. Additionay because people are too used to too much freedom and situations like this restricting their freedom, Americans in particular are much more susceptible to what amounts to not giving a shit about anyone but themselves and what they want, and violating orders. In addition, with virtually no impactful punishments given to people who don't follow the rules, there is no incentive to abide by them.

My overarching opinion on this is eastern countries will fully recover and block all travel from countries who haven't, and the western countries who haven't will continue to deal with this for years to come unless things are taken seriously and people all comply with the orders needed.

Given that won't happen, to fix this there needs to be harsh forced isolation, and then punishment for violation for anyone who disobeys the orders. Otherwise we will never recover.

I few people from my work got COVID19. They had high temperature, and couldn't taste or smell things. They still were going to the office, before they took the test, and our manager just ignored them and was encouraging them for working while they are sick. That's just insane!
i mean yeah, but its also scary, it shows that you could've gotten it.

a lot of countries (especially europe) are doing another lockdown because there are more & more cases again

In all honesty, I think you're pretty close to the truth there. The reality of it is, several asian countries will 1) wear masks and be cautious of disease spreading because that's just something they already did for normal flu season, and 2) comply. Those nations have a stronger focus on the "greater good" and working for the betterment of the whole society. Whereas our western cultures are centered about competition, freedom and individualism. I'm not saying there isn't a place or good reason for western cultures, but it does make handling a pandemic, a unique and very difficult challenge. I think we've embarrassed ourselves.

While I understand the reason people don't trust their governments, I don't think that makes them unaccountable for blatant ignorance. As Oni said, if everyone had behaved as recommended, the pandemic would be a very different scene right now. And when I say recommended, I'm not talking recommendations from the government, but by SCIENTISTS ALL OVER THE WORLD. It takes all of two minutes to fact check and cross reference sources on key issues. There is no excuse. You don't have to rely on biased news outlets for your information.

Also, as Miso said, on the off-chance that it's not all a "conspiracy theory" where the Earths governments have decided to annihilate their own economies (the lack of logic in this baffles me), wouldn't you just wear the damn mask and step back a little? If there was a 0.001% chance someone could be hurt, wouldn't you do what you could to avoid hurting them?

In the UK, it is now a week that the Prime Minister decided to close schools and businesses which are not required for humans to survive (such as restaurants & shopping malls). Even though the gouvernment closed down most public places, some people (cretins) travels or go to parties while others are at home, not able to socialise due to the quarentine

I'd like to see how 0day.red's community would say to those people, so write your thoughts about them and what you want to say to them (or maybe even convince them to stay home, keeping others safe from the virus)

Im giving all my respect to anyone working in the medical industry & you should too

Stay home.

(Edit: Thanks for everyone replying to this thread, it really shows how to community can discuss about such a topic)
I think they are dangerous people
