try to flush dns open cmd and type: ipconfig /flushdns

Usually I'd say that you can't fix it since 504 is not your problem but server side.
However, I see that you haven't specified timeout which is disabled by default. I think that your request to the server is timing out in its communication with your endpoint server, hence the 504.
You should use the timeout parameter r = requests.post(url, data=payload, timeout=4.5)
