Methinks Google is checking Bounce Rate

Methinks Google is checking Bounce Rate

When it comes to the quality of a site, google seems to be taking into account "bounce rate."

"The third column (Bounce Rate/%Exit/Avg Time) shows the bounce rate, the exit rate, and the average visit time for your top five entrance pages, exit pages, and visited pages, respectively, during the current date range. The green or red arrows and % numbers indicate the percentage increase or decrease from the previous date range (lower calendar)."

Bounces is the number of times visitors exited from the entrance page without visiting any other pages on your site. Bounce Rate is Bounces divided by Entrances.
That's from Google analytics. So that tells us that tells me that they care about the number of pages a visitor looks at in a site.

Since MFA sites generally have a goal of making the customer leave right away, the bounce rate will naturally be high. So, if google is looking to stomp out spam, it makes sense to say that sites with a higher bounce rate are more "spammy" than sites that people click and click.

Translation: trying to get your visitors to visit more than one page on your site should improve your standings in the SERPs while a very high bounce rate should hurt your standins.
