You don't even use most of the shit you install on your regular desktop pc,

I'm very selective with what I Install, so I'm not part of that equation.

In support of your comment, a lot of my friends hit an array of applications that are Irrelevant to their computing needs. They've never heard of a VM to test their curiosity of Installed applications.

To answer majority of peoples questions and the thread owner, It would be best to install Arch then, install your own tools that you want to use for pentesting.
Reason why?;
Pros:
- Installing your own tools
- Learn how to use CLI (Command Line Interface)
- Know what is installed
- Able to fully customize

Cons:
- Have to install what you want to use but, that is part of the experience of interacting with CLI.

That's what kali is. It's mainly just to plug in and play.

I recommend just using a normal operating system, such as Debian Linux. Hell, even Windows would work.

I know, I mean Kali could be useful (for me for example would be CTF where time is money), but I still prefer clean OS while adding only what you need.
