Security
This method/type of security is commonly used for protecting parts of their website or forum they don't want everyone to access. This is effective for protecting your Admin control panel.
Here's how (screenshots included):
Step 1. Login to your cPanel (control panel) with your details provided free by your host. The cPanel is commonly used to add MySQL databases, edit tables through PHPMyAdmin etc.
Step 2. Search or scroll down to the 'Security' features. 'Password Protected Directories' can be found here.
Step 3. Click the folder to the left of 'public_html' from the list given.
Step 4. Click the hyperlink 'admin'.
Type the name of the directory you want to protect in the correct text-box. Remember to use a not so guessable username and strong, complex password.
Step 5. Enjoy your secure directory. :p
